Deputy Mayor, Councillor Dr Keri Spooner, Waverley Ward
Deputy Mayor, Councillor Dr Keri Spooner, Waverley Ward

It has been a very busy few weeks since I was elected as a Councillor and then appointed Deputy Mayor. Some of the bigger issues being raised by residents in the Waverley Ward concern roads, parking, turns and safety.

A great many of these are wicked problems and, with the best intentions, there are no simple answers and indeed efforts to fix one problem inevitably create another. The no right turns from Wellington Street into Bondi Road, a response to the considerable number of accidents and casualties, is one example.

I am committed to open and respectful engagement with stakeholders to help find the most appropriate outcomes for all. I have also enjoyed the opportunity to thank our residents for their generosity and kindness in welcoming large crowds to our area for the very successful Bondi to Manly Ultra and Sculptures by the Sea.

As I settle into my role on Waverley Council, I will be out and about learning more about the priorities in our area.

Councillor Dr. Keri Spooner
