Paula Masselos with Tanya Plibersek and Stephen Lightfoor, ACF Board member at the opening Boot Factory.

It’s hard to believe that the election was only seven weeks ago but I wanted to say thank you to all who supported Waverley Labor’s progressive agenda and voted me back in for my fourth term.

Although I’ve had the privilege of working for our Waverley community for 12 years now, my commitment and passion to serve the Lawson Ward is no less diminished. I am looking forward to working closely with you all to continue building upon various initiatives and projects, and to advocate on your behalf.

Over the 5 years I was Mayor, I had initiated a number of significant projects, all the while steering our community through some of the most challenging of times. The restoration of the Boot Factory, Mill Hill Centre and Normal Lee Place was a major project, so I was thrilled to be able to speak at the launch. It is a beautiful restoration and yet another building saved for our community.

Our vision for Bondi Junction Mall is to make it place for families and friends to meet up for a meal or a drink. I completed about 12 months of work towards achieving this goal, including the extension of late night trading hours in the Mall to 3.00 am, and a design competition to make BJ a destination.

Let’s see whether this vision is realised under this conservative leadership, so stay tuned.

Councillor Paula Masselos
