YOUR EXPERIENCED TEAM

I would like to introduce myself and to ask you to vote for me in the forthcoming Waverley Council elections. I will be leading the Labor ticket in Waverley Ward and I give you a commitment that if elected, I will work cooperatively and diligently to ensure that you receive the local services that you expect and demand.

I have lived my entire life in the Waverley area and am so lucky to be the fourth generation of my family to have done so. I raised my children in this area and am fortunate to have grandchildren also benefiting from our local facilities.

I have spent most of my working life teaching at university and my research has focused on governance and public administration. I was brought up to believe that we all have a responsibility to our communities and not just our immediate family and friends. I have a long history of community service and my community activism includes campaigning to protect Bronte from overdevelopment and Waverley Cemetery from inappropriate commercialisation.

I love this area and I want the opportunity to help make Waverley even better. I believe that our number one challenge facing us all is to significantly reduce our waste, pollution and carbon emissions.

A good deal has been achieved in recent years but a very great deal more is needed.  I understand the financial pressures being experienced in our area, the severe accommodation challenges facing younge people and the need for a strong and smart local council that can work with other levels of government and with the private and not for profit sectors to ensure the best outcomes for residents.

Thank you for your time! I look forward to hearing from you.

Our plan for the Waverley Ward:

  • Reduce traffic speed particularly in our residential streets

  • Modify curb and guttering sides to enhance pedestrian safety

  • Improve Council’s systems to provide for transparent tracking of all requests
    to Council

  • Boost our Walking to School initiative to drive a reduction in school-based congestion and increase health and well-being

  • Upgrade Bronte Beach facilities

  • Implement FOGO and increase greening targets for environmental benefit, cooling and beautification including planting more appropriate trees

  • Upgrade Bondi Road footpaths to provide better public amenity and greening

  • Continue our net zero transition, increase the number of community batteries and accessible EV charges
